Pheasant
I drew this pheasant with a brush pen on a train travelling home from Wales. Will and I had been to stay with his godparents, and they have a beautiful rambling old house in the middle of the countryside with a large garden at the rear. The view from every window is a picture. I remember looking out into the back garden, and seeing a pheasant cautiously peek his head out from behind a large reedy plant and having a look around, before dashing across the open grass at full sprint. I love these snatched glimpses of nature - they have a habit of sticking in my mind.

Very beautiful. I just discovered your blog and have been poking around. I love your creativity.
ReplyDeleteThanks Betsy! I appreciate you taking the time to have a look around!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Yuliya!
DeleteA beautiful illustration love the effect the limited palette gives.
ReplyDeleteAll I remember of pheasant when I lived in the country for a while is they are noisy when scared and stupid. Every morning we'd have them going pock pock pock as they tried to get out of our garden when we let the dog out and they sit and watch cars approach then panic at the last minute to try and get out of the way.
Thank you Chibi!
DeleteYep, they do seem to be quite panicky, and you're right they can make a noise! I went for a walk in the woods a few months ago, and was peering through the trees at an old house I'd spotted when a pheasant burst out of the trees overhead making such a racket, I jumped out of my skin! :)
Must've been nice to have them running round in your garden!
