Oystercatchers
During the same visit to Wales which I spoke of in my last post, we took a trip to a nearby beach. It was a cold and stormy day, with sheets of rain falling far away on the horizon and dramatic rolling clouds. Bracing and very beautiful! The beach was dotted with bright spots of red from the beaks and legs of a flock of oystercatchers. I remember them so clearly. Dipping their beaks into the wet sand and leaving criss-crossing trails of webbed footprints behind them. I wanted to make the birds stand out in the picture as much as they did on the grey beach that day.

A wonderful illustration, I love how you have done the background. I also love the foot prints in the sand.
