Illustration Friday - Wild

My first thought for this week's Illustration Friday topic was big cats.  When I was a kid I used to collect any wallpaper remnants we had after my Dad decorated, and draw pictures on the reverse side.  I loved it because they were the biggest bits of paper ever.  I especially liked the embossed stuff because it gave great textures when I used my crayons.  My most epic endeavour was of a sleeping lion.  I rolled the paper out, weighing it down at either end with books, opened my Animal Kingdom Encyclopedia for the reference image, and worked my way down the lion from mane to hind paws.  I remember laying on the floor next to it once I'd finished, and being really happy and a bit amazed that I'd drawn something that was bigger then me.

I've got a bit of a thing about wallpaper..  it's also inspired a previous Illustration Friday post from me, which you can see here if you like!

  3. What a great way to make lemonade out of lemons. Or however the saying goes. You can skip the frame if you draw directly on the Wall!
