Today is my dad's birthday, and I drew this picture to celebrate! I got my love of reading from my mum, and my love of music from my dad. As soon as I was given my own record player I used to raid his vast collection of LPs, or ask him to pick ones out for me to listen to. We even joined a music catalogue club together and would make all sorts of elaborate deals over who would get to keep the new albums by their stereo first.
Best of all we'd go to record fairs. These brilliant events were held every few months in a big hall somewhere in Dundee, where there'd be rows and rows of stalls selling all sorts - live albums, rarities, bootlegs and EPs - like a musical Aladdin's Cave. I'd take my pocket money (and a bit extra from my dad!) and wander round looking for new music to discover. All the sellers had various players with earphones plugged in so you could have a good listen before you bought anything. We'd both leave with a bag of goodies and play them loudly when we got home. These fairs are becoming a thing of the past now, which is such a shame, but I'm happy we both got to go and enjoy them.
Here are a couple of songs which I picked up from my dad and still love today:
David Bowie - Let's Dance
The Sparks - This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us
Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell
Happy Birthday Dad!

What a great tribute for your Dad! Brought back many memories of the music we heard growing up. I really like the style of your work, it's a pleasure to see what you create.
