Sunday Sketches - Trip to Brecon Beacons

I'm linking this post back to Sunday Sketches.  On Saturday I joined in a charity hike across the Brecon Beacons in Wales with some people from my gym, so this trip was very much the inspiration for these sketches today.  We couldn't have hoped for better weather - even though it was very windy and pretty cold at the summits, the sun was out and it was dry.  Navigating up steep muddy slopes and across peat bogs would have been a whole different kind of adventure in the rain!  Even though at times we were all exhausted and with achey legs and feet, we kept our spirits high throughout the day, and had a lot of fun as well as taking in some amazing views.  Saw lots of wildlife too!  Cows, horses, sheep (the sheep were everywhere!) and swallows flitting around about our heads.

We ended our walk at The White Swan pub in Llanfrynach.  We ordered celebratory drinks and I received the best tasting cup of tea ever - possibly because I had been daydreaming about it for hours before!

  4. Thanks so much Alexandra! Each one took about an hour and a half - sketched in pencil and then the detail added with a pen. I drew them outside sat in the sun - a pretty nice way to spend an afternoon! I love the Sunday Sketches initiative :)

    1. Thank you Tracey! Heh, of course I thought you'd like the tea! :D The tea at the pub wasn't anything special I don't think, it's just I'd been longing for a cup all afternoon - it was my reward for finishing the hike and so it tasted amazing!
