This is my submission for this week's Illustration Friday.
When I saw the topic, I had a memory of my brother and I helping our Dad strip wallpaper from the walls in our house. We were quite young at the time and I remember being amazed at the different layers of old wallpaper beneath. Some of them were pretty garish! When we got down to the bare wall, we wrote 'Hello' and our names and the date. It was fun thinking about who might find our message in the future when the walls were stripped once again.

This is a great post, I too remember this and i still have a tendancy to want to write a message to future finders when we do anything like this ( ie the black board in my old office was being covered up so i left a note). Thanks for the reminiscences

ReplyDeletePeeling back the layers of time. This is great. Really nice idea for layers. Reminds me of when me and my family cleaned out our old bungalow and had to remove the lino flooring... underneath it was lined with newspapers from the 70's!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog... I had this happen to me when I stripped wallpaper last year, I found a message that said the man's name and "last papered in 1963, who will be next?" I thought it was great!
