365 Days of Tea no.88 and 89

I'm tentatively starting to experiment with oil pastels, after receiving a set as a Christmas present.  I scraped back the colour with a craft knife to add detail, and in future attempts I might try to use clay modelling tools to get different thicknesses in the line.

Both of these birds I saw whilst out on a walk by the river near my house yesterday.  The top one is a Marsh or Willow Tit and there were two or three of them flitting around gathering nesting materials.  The other bird stood out to me, because it was amongst a flock of Canada Geese, but had a stark white face, and black and white body.  Consulting my bird book when I got home, I'm pretty sure it was a Barnacle Goose, which normally winter along the north-west coasts of Scotland and Ireland, though a few do visit from Denmark and winter in the south-east of England, so I feel lucky to have seen one!
