I've not spent much time in front of the computer lately, so my presence here has suffered a little. The UK has been hit by a rare bout of heat, and it would be madness not
to be out in it as much as possible! I have so much catching up to do to see what everyone has been up to!
I've been helping out on a crafts project in my area called Craft Connects, which is all about bringing different people and communities together through craft. I was asked if I could do some illustrations for their blog and marketing, and I thought that joining in on Sunday Sketches would be a perfect way to show them to you. For the above illusrations I researched fabrics and patterns from different cultures and worked them into the pictures in different ways.
Below are some of my first illustrations, but the patchwork people were leaning towards too young a demographic for the project. I did get the idea of different fabrics from those initial drawings though!
This project is only at its beginning and I have a number of illustrations still to do. I'm assisting at a few of the workshops, and I'll be sure to post updates. This project has also seen me begin the hunt for the world's smallest pen nib! When I started these illustrations, the smallest I had was 01 in size, but now I've added a 005 to my arsenal for tiny details. I wonder if they come much smaller than that?

Fantastic illustrations! Happy summer time :)

Thank you Katarzyna! :)
DeleteTerrific details and so fun! Copic markers makes a 003 nib, but it's hard to tell the difference between that at the 005. Or possibly I don't have a light enough touch - I have been known to accidentally crush the poor little nibs. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've heard that there's an 003 out there, but I think you're right, it would be hard to tell the miniscule difference :) And I know, I have to be so careful not to crush the nibs - they're so tiny!!
