Dream Cat

Last night I tossed and turned in the midst of a bad dream, (for someone who loves cute and colourful things, I do in fact watch a fair amount of horror movies so a bad dream or two is really no surprise).  This one, however, was particularly vivid, so I got up, wandered around, had some juice, and then went back to bed.

As I fell back to sleep, I had a vivid image in my mind of a cat in a decorated top hat, with an eye like a peacock feather.  I remember wanting to wake up and scribble a sketch, but sleep had taken its hold. 

This afternoon I remembered that cat, so here he is.

I had no bad dreams after seeing the cat, so I thought up a little rhyme whilst I drew him.  In case my writing is hard to make out, I've copied the words here -

     Dream Cat with your fancy hat,
     Keep bad dreams away.
     Blink your heavy feathered eye,
     And keep bad dreams at bay.
          Twinkley hat all trimmed with lace,
          Inscrutible look upon your face,
          Keep the bad dreams in their place,
     And let the good dreams stay...
